What can be treated |
|
Most people, patients and doctors alike, think of acupuncture only as a pain relief treatment. But acupuncture can treat much more than pain symptoms. Below is a list of conditions that the World Health Organization [WHO] and the National Institutes of Health [NIH] have recognized as being responsive to acupuncture treatment.

Also, there are many conditions that are treated by acupuncture that are not on the NIH and WHO lists [see list above]. Here are a few examples: On an everyday basis we treat allergies, a very common problem; neck pain, a condition that is very amenable to acupuncture treatment; plantar fasciitis, a very painful condition of the feet; diabetic neuropathy, a difficult but treatable condition. Many more examples could be given.
Also, we have successfully treated conditions which conventional medicine finds difficult to treat: e.g., tinnitus [ringing in the ears].
Even when we don’t treat something directly, such as cancer, we can provide supportive treatment to mitigate the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and to reduce the negative effects of the stress that patients suffer when diagnosed with cancer.
And while acupuncture excels at treating chronic conditions, there are situations where successful treatment depends on early intervention. This is especially true for the consequences of strokes. To reverse or mitigate the catastrophic effects of stroke, the sooner acupuncture treatment starts, absolutely the better.
